Growing up in Hartford, Puerto Ricans represented my neighbors, my classmates, my friends, my community, my america. It would be impossible for me to do nothing to help after the hurricane that has ravaged their island. So the least I could do was attend this fundraiser, donate 20$, and take some pictures. Taking pictures is what I do and anytime I can do it to spread positivity and capture love in my community it is a duty. So I rode my bike to Gio's place in the west end and walked over to Real Art Ways for the event. I rode my bike back home to Wethersfield at midnight, through a quiet and calm Hartford.
"Hurricanes Irma & Maria have devastated Puerto Rico. The CT Restaurant Industry stands with our friends and colleagues from Puerto Rico in the wake of this tragedy. Thousands on the Island are without power, thousands on the mainland are desperate to hear from their loved ones. In an industry where we all count on one another to get the job done, now is the time to come together to show our support for the people and island of Puerto Rico.
All funds will be directed to The Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Network, a local coalition comprised of the CT Puerto Rican Agenda, The Center for Latino Progress, CICD Hartford Puerto Rican Day Parade, and The San Juan Center, working in tandem with the Hispanic Federation and the CT General Assembly’s Puerto Rican Caucus. Special thanks to REAL ART WAYS, lead sponsor. " - LB Muñoz
